Information to Prepare Before Requesting a Nylon Quote

Before getting a quote, the information you need to send us for selling Nylon is:

  • Nylon grade: Nylon 6, Nylon 6/6, or unknown; include any resin product data sheets if available.
  • Form: pellets, regrind, purge, reject parts, fiber, or film.
  • Color: natural (unpigmented), mixed color, or black
  • Estimated volume: pounds or tons currently available, and whether this is a one-time load or an ongoing, recurring stream.
  • Contamination level: note any metal inserts, labels, moisture exposure, or cross-resin mixing present in the load.
  • Location: city and state, whether your facility has a dock or requires a different pickup arrangement.
  • Processing history: source operation, original application, and any certifications or lot records that document the resin source.

How to Prepare Nylon for Sale: Step-by-Step

Step 1: Separate Nylon 6 from Nylon 6/6

Keep Nylon 6 and Nylon 6/6 in separate, clearly labeled containers from the moment they are generated. These two grades are chemically distinct, processed at different temperatures, and incompatible for blending without significant quality loss.

Step 2: Remove Metal Inserts, Labels and Foreign Materials

Pull out any metal inserts, clips, fasteners, or non-nylon components before consolidating your load. A single contaminated batch can affect pricing for the entire load. That is why early-stage sorting is far more efficient than trying to correct it at pickup.

Step 3: Sort by Color

Keep natural and mixed-colored nylon in separate containers so each stream can be assessed and placed correctly. Mixing colors into a single container forces buyers to price the entire load at the lowest common denominator.

Step 4: Protect from Moisture

Nylon is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture from the surrounding air faster than most other engineering resins. Store your nylon scrap in sealed heavy-duty bags or covered containers, away from humidity, outdoor exposure, or open loading dock areas.

Step 5: Document Your Load

Before requesting a quote, note the nylon grade, form, color, estimated weight, and any known contamination.

If you have resin certificates, product data sheets, processing history, or lot records, keep them accessible.

How Does Carlin Waste Recycling Evaluate and Price Nylon?

At Carlin Waste Recycling, we price Nylon by evaluating each load across four dimensions: grade, form, cleanliness, and volume, and then matching it to the buyer in our network, currently offering the strongest price for that specific profile.

Why Manufacturers and Recyclers Choose Carlin Waste Recycling for Nylon

Brett Carlin

CEO, Carlin Waste Recycling

Reliable pickups and fast payments
Keep your floor clear and your cash flow predictable. We schedule pickup timing around your operation, not ours, and process payment promptly after material verification. You do not chase invoices or wait for unclear timelines.

One partner for multiple nylon markets
Access multiple markets through a single point of contact. Whether you are generating Nylon 6 purge regularly or clearing a one-time inventory of PA66 reject parts, we simplify the process with one vendor relationship and one payment stream.

Transparency and traceability
Every transaction includes clear documentation of pricing terms, pickup records, and chain-of-custody tracking. For manufacturers and distributors with ESG reporting obligations, this supports sustainability compliance without requiring additional effort on your side. We handle the paper trail; you get verified recycling outcomes.

Integrated waste stream management
For operations with complex, mixed waste streams, our team coordinates across material types, meaning nylon does not need to be managed in isolation from your other recyclable streams. We look at the full picture and build a pickup schedule that serves the whole operation.

FAQs About Selling Nylon

Does Carlin Waste Recycling Buy Nylon Nationwide?

Yes, Carlin Waste Recycling buys nylon from businesses across the United States. If your operation is located within our area and generates Nylon 6, Nylon 6/6, or both on a regular or one-time basis, contact us to confirm availability and schedule a material evaluation.

How Quickly Does Carlin Waste Recycling Pay After Nylon Pickup?

Payment terms are confirmed in your recycling proposal before pickup takes place. Carlin Waste Recycling processes payment promptly after material verification is complete, following pickup.  The exact timeline depends on load size and any required quality checks, but speed and transparency in payment are core commitments, not exceptions.

Is Nylon More Expensive than Polyester?

Yes, Nylon is more expensive than Polyester, both as a virgin resin and as recycled scrap material. Nylon’s higher melting point, stronger mechanical performance under load and heat, and broader industrial application range support its premium price.

What Is the Difference Between Nylon 6 and Nylon 6/6 Scrap?

The difference between Nylon 6 and Nylon 6/6 Scrap is chemical structure. Nylon 6 (PA6) is produced from a single monomer (caprolactam) and has a lower melting point of 220°C. Nylon 6/6 (PA66) is produced from two monomers (adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine), melts at a higher temperature of 265°C, and offers superior stiffness, heat resistance, and fatigue performance. In the recycling market, Nylon 6/6 generally commands a premium price because of those performance characteristics and the more demanding applications it serves. The two grades are not compatible for blending without significant quality degradation, which is why keeping them separated before sale is essential to maximizing the value of both streams.
